Rosie The Riveter

Rosie The Riveter is a cultural icon of American history that we are all familiar with in some way or another. Rosie represented the American women who worked in factories during World War II, most of whom had taken completely new jobs replacing the male workers who were in the military, making war supplies and munitions.

This particular iconic image has become and is commonly used now as a symbol of feminism and female economic power.

My sister loves Rosie, and has this classic image on her mobile phone case and as the background on her Nintendo when she plugs in her r4i card. I think it's a great icon of the "We Can Do It" spirit that some women still need to empower themselves with.

I've seen a lot of girls take photos of themselves dressed similarly and in a similar pose, and as long as they actually understand the message behind it, it's great to see.
